(Answer) (Category) Accessing Services at OA5 / YASK / Irial : (Category) My Email : (Answer) Setting up on an Android Handset
This procedure was developed on an HTC Desire running Android 2.3.3 ('Gingerbread')
Your own experience may differ, depending upon your hardware and software configuration.
This procedure should only be followed when your handset has a reliable network or WiFi connection, enabling the real-time checking of OA5 account details.

In the following description mydomain is everything on the right hand side of the @ symbol in your OA5 assigned email address, excluding the '@' itself, for example familyname.co.uk or businessname.com

During this procedure your handset may complain that the OA5 security certificate is not signed by a trusted authority. You should accept the certificate permanently.

From Home Screen
Tap “Mail->Menu->New account”
Tap “Other (POP3/IMAP)”

When entering data it may be necessary to swipe the entry fields up to expose the later ones obscured behind the on-screen keyboard.

Email Address: Enter your OA5 assigned email address, eg me@mydomain
Password: Enter the password we gave you when we created the mailbox.
Tap Manual Setup
Tap on the drop down list for Protocol and select IMAP
Email Address: Pre-filled. Amend if not correct..
Username: Pre-filled with your email address. Amend if this is not the username we agreed for your mailbox
Incoming Server: Pre-filled mydomain. Amend to imap.mydomain
Tap on drop-down list for Security Type and select SSL
Server Port: Should be 993, amend if not.
Tap Next
Handset will announce “Checking account settings”
When complete, Tap Next
SMTP server: Set to smtp.mydomain
Tap on the drop down list for Security Type and select None
Server Port: Enter 587
Tap Next
Handset will announce “Checking account settings”

Name Account: Enter a description for the account eg “OA5 Mail Service”
Your Name: Enter your name to appear on sent mail, eg Firstname Lastname
Tap Finish Setup

If all is well your handset will connect to your OA5 mailbox and download the items in your Inbox.

You may wish to amend your synchronisation settings to improve battery life or data usage. Follow

Home->All Apps->Settings->Accounts & Sync
Tap IMAP/POP3 mail and adjust update schedule to suit.
(Days of week and times for peak and off-peak times and synchronisation cycle times for peak and off-peak time bands.)
Alternatively you can suppress automatic synchronisation and trigger the activity manually.

You may also wish to amend the default signature placed at the end of outgoing emails from your handset. Follow
Home->Mail->Menu->More->Settings->General Settings->Signature
and amend the signature to suit. Alternatively untick the Use Signature box if you do not want your own signature, nor one advertising your handset preference.

It's a good idea now to check sending and reading emails on your handset before you need to do it for real with emails that matter.
